Characteristics of Children With ADHD

Targeting ADHD

Dr. Erika Vicente and Dr. Janina Czartolomna head up Horizon Pediatrics and Primary Care in Thornton, Longmont, and Denver, CO and are highly skilled, licensed, seasoned, and board-certified in pediatrics and mental health disorders.

Our doctors explain that one mental health issue they see and treat in children is ADHD.

What is This Disorder and Its Five Characteristics?

One mental health diagnosis is called Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Doctors find this disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder beginning in childhood.

Children with ADHD must learn coping skills. Children carry this disorder into adulthood and for life. Parents can get help from these esteemed doctors at Horizon Pediatrics and Primary Care.

Classic Symptoms

  • Impulsiveness
  • Inattentiveness
  • Hyperactive
  • No Ability to Plan
  • Restless

Children can display one, a few, or all of these symptoms.

Due to the variance of symptoms between children, placing this diagnosis on the child is difficult. However, if the child shows one or all of these signs daily, they undoubtedly have this disorder. On the other hand, if the child exhibits one or all of these signs periodically or randomly, the child probably does not have this diagnosis.

Never self-diagnose your child. Instead, please allow our experienced doctors to diagnose and treat your child correctly.

It is common for one treatment plan to work for one child but not another child. Finding the proper treatment for your child increases your and their ability to manage symptoms. In addition, managing symptoms of this mental health disorder raise the child's ability to become a success in their personal and work environment as they enter their teen and adult years.

If You Suspect Symptoms, Please Give Us a Call

This disorder presents a chemical imbalance within the brain. This chemical imbalance is persistent, causing behavior issues that the child can not control until we initiate a treatment plan. All treatment plans depend on the child's age, developmental level, and symptoms.

These shared symptoms do not come and go. Instead, these symptoms are forever present in any setting, interfering with the child's daily routine and life.

Dr. Vicente and Dr. Czartolomna at Horizon Pediatrics and Primary Care want to help your child. Please call them when you notice these common symptoms.
